OpenStack Foundation

As an early adopter of OpenStack cloud technology starting with the 2012 "Essex" release, I've been lucky enough to participate deeply in the emergence of open-source cloud technology and have been active in many technical and organizational aspect of the community. I was invited to be coauthor on the first cloud operations manual late published by O'Reilly. I was a member of the OpenStack Foundation User Committee Member participating with the board of directors in by-law changes to make this and elected rather than appointed committee. I have also been an invited speaker and facilitator at numerous conferences in the US and internationally.

Digital Outreach

The free sharing of knowledge is one of the key features that drew me to work in research computing. Through the Imara project at CSAIL I had the opportunity share my knowledge and expertise with under served communities around the world, in Fiji, Kenya, and especially in the Navajo Nation where I co-taught a summer course in computer repair and Linux systems administration at Diné College.

Unfortunately most of the projects are now dormant, and some have certainly had more lasting impacts than others. I would definitely welcome the opportunity to do similar work in future.
